Job Description
Material Prep Operator
Pay: $18–$20/hr (Based on experience)
Shift:1st, (5:30 AM – 2:00 PM)
We are seeking a detail-oriented Material Prep Operator to support production by cutting and preparing raw plastic materials. This role ensures timely and accurate supply of material blanks and components in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume plastics manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate saws (band saw, circular saw, etc.) to cut materials to specified sizes
- Set up and operate punch presses for blanking, hole punching, or notching
- Inspect raw materials and finished blanks for quality and accuracy
- Maintain records of material usage and production quantities
- Follow safety protocols when using cutting and punching equipment
- Stage, sort, and transport cut parts to machining or assembly areas
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on equipment
- Support changeovers and quick setups for frequent job changes
- Report equipment or material issues to supervisors
Qualifications:
- Experience in plastics manufacturing or high-mix, low-volume production
- Prior experience with saws, punch presses, or similar equipment
- Familiarity with machine setup, tooling changes, and basic troubleshooting
- Knowledge of material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack)
- Ability to read work orders, cut lists, and basic drawings
