SUMMARY:
Responsible for design of work-holding fixtures used by CNC machines, including
horizontal and vertical machining centers as well as turning centers, in a job-
shop environment.

Following information exchange from Customer Representative, exchange information with customer covering basic customer expectations and related job requirements (part quantity, timeframe, anticipated life of production/fixture, part price, fixture cost, etc.) on through detailed aspects involving customer part performance specifications, quality assurance requirements, and expectations.

Fixture Concept Stage:
Acting as the Review Team Meeting leader, prepare and present one or more fixture and processing concepts to Concept Design Review Team.

Depending on part and process complexity, this may involve preparing preliminary drawings for review by the Review Team and/or the customer.
Once one or more processing schemes are developed, present schemes for analysis and review by a concept review committee.
Review would consider likely success of proposed concept(s) while considering customer satisfaction, fixture cost, part production costs, quality testing and assurance, available time to produce fixture, anticipated life of job, etc.

Job Estimate and Customer Quote Preparation:
Using concept approved by Review Team, Team would develop and present to customer a quotation using company information software (Jobboss), along with other design and record keeping tools.

Customer Approval
With approval to proceed, concept design would progress to final engineering documentation set consisting of engineering drawings, specifications for manufactured as well as purchased parts, bills of material, etc.

Customer Order
Upon receipt of customer acceptance of quote, create Jobboss job(s) to produce and track cost of manufacturing fixture(s) needed to produce completed part for customer per drawings and specifications.

Job Tracking
Oversee production of fixtures and CNC machine-related instructions necessary to produce the customer?s part(s). Maintain files (native electronic and scans of paper-based data) on server in coherent and well-ordered fashion, allowing others to be able to access and locate data quickly and efficiently when needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong organization, planning and data management skills
Proficiency with CAD programs, particularly SolidWorks preferred
Knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing principles, part tolerancing and math data management skills
Ability to identify potential issues in fixturing customer part and be able to propose corrective action steps
Possess well-developed critical thinking skills
Strong communication skills to explain strength and weaknesses of design concepts
Ability to work well with others while sharing ideas and viewpoints
Help to resolve conflicts in design and production
Assist in establishing completion dates
Ability to work without regular supervision
Lead design review meetings
Mentor and coach other
