Job Description
Billing Specialist
Shift: 1st shift 8:30am-5pm
Pay: $17-$18/hour
Job Description:
- Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper
- Answer questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies
- Identify and resolve patient billing complaints
- Prepare, review and send patient statements
- Evaluate patient’s financial status and establishes budget payment plans
- Follow and report status of delinquent accounts
- Review account for possible assignment and makes recommendations to the Billing
- Supervisor, also prepares information for the collections agency
- Perform daily backups on office computer system
- Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correction and resubmitting claims to third party payers
- Processes payments from insurance companies and prepares a daily deposit
- Participate in educational activities and attends monthly staff meetings
- Assist in training new personnel as requested
- Perform any other duties as directed by Billing Supervisor or Office manager
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a health care environment
- This job operates in a clerical, office setting.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
